Ready to create your own exciting Robotics Dog Adventure? In this fun-filled 2-day coding camp, students will step into the world of programming by building their very own robot.

Perfect for young game designers, this camp will take students through the entire creation process, from designing characters and environments to programming movement, interactions, and exciting game mechanics!

Day 1 - Build & Code Your Robotic Dog

Introduction to LEGO Mindstorms

Learn about sensors, motors, and the coding interface.

Robotic Dog Planning:

Sketch and brainstorm your robot dog’s design and special features.

Build Phase 1 - Basic Structure

Begin building the dog’s base using LEGO Mindstorms.

Build Phase 2 Adding Features

Enhance your robot with cool additions like sensors and a wagging tail.

Basic Coding:

Program your dog to move, bark, wag its tail, and more.

Test & Refine

Run your program, troubleshoot, and test your robotic dog’s behavior.

Show & Tell

Share your progress with the group and celebrate what you’ve built so far.

Day 2 - Create the Dog's Habitat & Get Ready to Race!

Recap & Energizer

Brief recap and fun energizer.

Habitat Design Planning

Sketch and brainstorm habitat ideas.

Build the Habitat

Use recycled materials to build dog homes, parks, etc.

Decorate & Personalize

Paint, add signs, and decorate habitats.

Final Programming & Integration

Integrate the robot into its habitat.

Robo-Dog Race!

Line up your team’s Robo-dogs and race them through the track or habitat.

Students should bring the following items for their habitat-building activity

  1. Recycled items such as cardboard, plastic containers, and paper towel rolls

  2. Art materials like crayons, markers, paint, glue, scissors, and colored paper

  3. Crafting tools and accessories including tape, glue guns, string, and popsicle sticks

 

All other necessary materials, including laptops, will be provided.
